How To Get More Buying Traffic To Your Blog
How To Get More Buying Traffic To Your Blog
In other words, you don’t want any old traffic, you want to know how to get more buying traffic.
It’s the Holy Grail of marketing and here’s the answer…
It’s multi-purposing.
However, before getting into the nitty-gritty of how to get more buying traffic to your blog, let’s break the task down into two distinct steps: the traffic itself and then the “magic” that turns them into buyers.
(Don’t worry. Real magic isn’t required, so if you never went to Hogwarts School you can still do this).

Traffic From Hot Topics
All buying decisions are really shortcuts to problem solutions.
Yes, all of them.
You think grocery shopping is just a chore? Well, so it might be to you, but imagine the problems there’d be if the supermarkets all ran out of stock.
How long before you were hungry, begging for food or perhaps trying to barter with your neighbours for something to eat?
All of us, from time to time, look for solutions to problems – from how to lose weight after Christmas to breaking bad habits to making more money to … well you name it.
And in case you think there are exceptions, such as when thousands of us purchase tickets to a rock concert, well the psychology is more subtle, but essentially it’s about feeling good – that’s what we want in one form or another.
(I could go into that in more detail, but I don’t want to digress so let’s save that debate for another day).

How Do You Find The Hot Topics?
The internet has made discovering what people want completely transparent.
There are many ways to discover the hot topics in any niche but I’ll share three of my favourites with you.
1. Amazon best sellers.
Just look at the top selling 50 to 100 paperbacks or Kindle books in any market to see what people are looking for. (Fiction excepted, I’m talking about information).
Everything from car repair to flower arranging, from learning a language to extreme sports … and millions of other topics are there.
Use the “look inside” function Amazon provides and peruse the chapter titles. You’ll soon get an idea of what people want to know – and they’re paying the author (and Amazon) good money to find out!
Well, they’d pay you too!
2. Youtube.
Type a seed keyword into the search bar of Youtube and the most viewed videos for that topic will be immediately revealed.
I like to keep the seed keywords fairly broad but not so broad you’ll be there all day. Even if I was looking to promote something in the diet niche, I would never type in “weight loss” – it’s far too wide a topic.
Depending on what I intend to promote, I’d tailor the search term a little. So, perhaps I want to promote a diet that uses all organic produce, I might start with “lose weight naturally,” for example.
To dig a little deeper, as well as the videos that show up, click on one that’s in the top three of your search and then look at the channel (by clicking on the channel owner’s name.)
Once you get there, choose the Videos tab and then use the filters to sort by popularity.
Hey presto! A catalogue of hot topics that are getting tons of traffic will reveal itself to you.
3. Magazines.com
This site is a gold mine.
Whilst not every topic is there, you’re unlikely to run out of ideas.
You can’t look inside the magazines but that’s okay, because you don’t need to.
Search the site by topic first of all, (e.g. gardening, parenting, cars, business, success, lifestyle), and zoom in on the magazine covers that show up.
Each of the headlines on a cover has been carefully chosen by the editor because she or he believes it will help to sell the magazine.
In today’s world that’s no mean feat given that the internet is a major threat to many print magazines!
Getting The Traffic
The blog is the hub of your business. It’s where people will get to know what you’re about, what you’re like and what you have to offer.
Of course, you can buy traffic to a sales page or even a freebie offer page, (aka “squeeze page” or “optin page”), but would you buy something from a complete stranger or give your contact details to an anonymous someone you’d never encountered before?
So, pick your hot topic, then write your blog post around it.
Now, here’s where I used to get stuck.
I’d find a hot topic and realise that I didn’t know the answers any more than anyone else searching for a solution to whatever that problem was.
Here again, the good old transparent internet will come to the rescue!
Now, I need to preface this next part with a caveat, which is this:
Do NOT, under any circumstances plagiarise or copy anyone else’s work.
That shouldn’t even need to be said, but sadly, it does, so I’m going to underline it by giving you X good reasons why you should never, under any circumstances, do it:
1. It’s illegal, (and far easier for the original author/copyright owner to discover than you imagine).
2. It’s immoral. How would you like it if you put a bunch of work in and someone else got all the credit and even money for it?
3. It defeats the object of what you’re doing. You want your customers to buy from YOU and a primary reason they’ll do that is because they like the way YOU explain stuff.
(Do you imagine for a single moment that this is the only item you can find online about how to get more buying traffic? Of course not! But every word of it is mine – written by me.)
That third reason alone should be enough to stop you in your tracks should you be tempted to ever go near the “Copy/Paste” buttons!
What you CAN do, is summarise, re-write, express in your own way and even combine ideas you find elsewhere.
That’s not only legitimate, it’s one of the major ways we learn anything.
So, go hunting for solutions to the hot topic problem just the same as anyone else would – only take notes.
Collect and collate, say five good tips. They don’t even have to come from the same source.
And then write your post.
If you’re going to outsource it, you can instead now write a heading and an outline for your outsourcer to use as their framework. (And double check that your outsourcer doesn’t plagiarise too!)
Opening Your Traffic Highway
So, once you have the blog post, use the script to make a video and post it on your Youtube channel. (Yes, you should have one of those.)
Create a link in the video description which points back to the blog post too. That may help traffic in two ways: by driving actual viewers who prefer to read rather than watch back to you blog and by Google seeing a link from an authority site, (Youtube), it will help your blog post to rank in the search engines.
Post a link on your Facebook page to your blog post.
You can also post in Facebook groups you belong to about it as well as the video.
Tweet about your blog post too.
And while you’re at it, why not post it on Pinterest and Instagram too?
The more places you post about your post, the more people are going to find you.
Turning Them Into Buyers
You’ve read all the way through this lengthy article and I haven’t sold you anything, have I?
Or have I?
What have I done?
I’ve given you something useful. I can say that with confidence because if you already knew this it’s unlikely that you’d still be reading. And if you did know it, in all probability you’re still reading because I’ve made some light bulbs come on when others, for whatever reason, haven’t.
(That’s not deliberate on my part – sometimes we just click with some people, don’t we? Let’s call it “chemistry!”)
So I’ve given you something of value and it’s cost you nothing. (You’re welcome).
By the same token, I’ve also established myself in your mind as someone who seems, at least, to know his stuff.

If I’d slapped a buy button on this page along with a big heavy sales message, it would have been like proposing marriage before we even know each other’s taste in movies or what you like for breakfast!
But there is an opportunity to get something more, isn’t there? I’ve offered you a valuable free gift on this page … and if you accept, not only will you have the gift in your possession mere minutes from now, but also we can get to know each other a little better through some correspondence.
It’s a win-win, and if you find we’re not so compatible as you first thought, you can walk away at any time (by unsubscribing) and there’ll be no hard feelings! (I’m just not that kinda guy).
However, should you find that your first impressions were right and I continue to impress you with valuable information and ideas, there’s a good chance that, sooner or later, you’ll buy something from me.
(And if you don’t, not to worry. You’re still welcome to the free stuff because I enjoy creating it, and others will buy, so don’t worry about how I’ll feed my family. I’ll get by!)
You may have heard – quite possibly until you’re sick of hearing it – that the money is in the list, but that’s not quite accurate.
The money is in the relationship with the list.
And if you seriously want to know how to get more buying traffic, let me give you this piece of advice:
Forget about the money! Concentrate on the relationship … and the money will take care of itself.
(There … I saved the best for last.)
